Items may be exchanged or returned for store credit only within 7 days of purchase. Please see Store Policies for complete details on credits and exchanges.

  • Please allow 1-3 weeks for made to order items in addition to standard shipping times.

Don’t hesitate to contact the studio for a more detailed estimate of time to completion.

  • Custom work and customizations are accepted on a case by case basis and timing is subject to my regular studio production schedule. Due to the high work volume and seasonality of the brick and mortar location on Nantucket, custom projects may not be possible during the summer months. Please provide as much detail as possible when inquiring about a custom project.

Customization of a core design (ie choosing an alternate stone type in a Timekeeper piece; or requesting a different type or length of chain on a necklace; clasp preferences etc.) can often be very straightforward and possible at any time when materials are on hand. Don’t hesitate to ask about alterations or small customizations - I am happy to try to accommodate requests to make a piece truly fit for you. Items requiring alterations or made to order must be paid in full before any work is done, and are not eligible for exchange.

More involved custom projects requiring pre-production design and sourcing labor will be charged at a rate of $60/hr. for these services before materials and fabrication costs. Estimates for the scope of a custom project will be provided after an initial discussion and will be valid for 30 days. A 50% deposit is required for any accepted estimate for custom work.

Contact the studio here for any custom requests.

  • If an earring is lost, there are a few ways to remedy the situation.

Items that comprise standard stone sizes and shapes, or core metal elements (ie Timekeeper, Glyph, or round Limerence studs for example) can often be replaced as a single. All efforts will be made to match any stones in a pair of earrings. Costs for a single replacement earring in this category will be 50% of the current price for the item.

For items that contain unconventional matched stones, or unique matched shapes in custom settings, potential solutions include creating a similar single earring for a mis-matched but cohesive pair, or altering the single earring into a pendant or charm. Prices for this type of work will be unique to each project. Estimates will be provided and are valid for 30 days.

Losing a beloved piece of jewelry is always difficult. Contact the studio with any questions so we can assess and get your pieces back in wearable condition ASAP!

  • Jennifer Greenwood Jewelry pieces are designed and fabricated to stand up to everyday wear. That being said, all fine jewelry should be cared for intentionally to keep it in the best condition possible over time. Here are some recommendations to help keep your precious metals and gemstones in excellent shape:

Remove jewelry while bathing, cleaning, gardening, exercising, or any hands-on physical activity.

    Everyday care:

Although many stones and metals are quite durable, best practices are to not expose jewelry to water (hand or dish-washing, bathing, swimming), lotions, perfumes or sprays. Oxidized finishes and certain porous stones in particular can be affected by contact with these substances (more on oxidized finishes and porous stones in the Special Considerations tab).

In particular, gemstones with closed back settings should not be submerged in water of any kind as liquid can get trapped and remain behind the gemstone, which can darken or alter its appearance. If this liquid contains chemicals from cleaning solutions or chlorine from pool water it can leach material and damage metal alloys.

    Cleaning:

A clean, microfiber cloth can be used to gently clean the surface of gemstones **Not to be confused with a polishing cloth which contains any sort of abrasive compound. These can damage the surface of your gemstone, and can alter the finish on your metals, particularly any matte or brushed finish.**

For open settings containing durable gemstones such as sapphires and diamonds, or un-patinated metal only: If your piece is looking dull or grimy, you can gently clean with a soft, baby toothbrush and mild dish soap, and wipe dry. Be mindful not to do this over the sink! Best to set up a towel on your countertop and a small container of soapy liquid on the side.

As always, if you have any questions regarding materials and how to care for them, don’t hesitate to ask!

    Storage:

When you receive your purchase from Jennifer Greenwood Jewelry it will arrive in a protective linen or fabric pouch. It is recommended to store your jewels in this original packaging and in a soft, dry space where they won’t scrape, slide against each other, crush, or tangle. This is especially important during travel. Please wrap your pieces individually to avoid damage from jostling around in a bag

  • Some materials require extra care to maintain their appearance and ensure their longevity.

Porous stones and “living” materials: Natural pearls and coral (“living” stones) are especially sensitive to water, lotions, chemicals and beauty products as they are porous and can be dramatically altered by exposure to any of the above and even heat or harsh sunlight. This is also true of porous stones such as opal of any kind and turquoise. Please take this into consideration when making your purchase and be sure these delicate items work with your habits and lifestyle.

A good rule of thumb to keep these items safe is that they should be the last thing you put on your body (after any cosmetics, perfumes etc., and the first thing you take off!

    Patinas:

The “last on, first off” guideline can also be applied to oxidized silver or any patinated metal. Patinas, including oxidation, are a surface treatment and will change over time. To preserve the look of a patina, follow the recommendations above for limiting exposure to water, chemicals, cosmetics, and store them in such a way that will prevent rubbing or scratching of their surfaces.

If your piece needs to be re-oxidized at any time please contact the studio and we can provide this service.
